THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE 2022 FLYNN SPRING AUCTION

The Flynn held The Flynn Online Spring Auction from April 12 - 29th, 2022 to help raise funds for their educational and cultural programming. The violin donation also helped Flynn attract and generate leads for their bidding page.

This one-of-a-kind V. Richelieu violin was generously donated by Vermont Violins and signed by classical music legend and renowned violinist, Itzhak Perlman, who graced The Flynn with his music and artistry in late March 2022.

  • Itzhak Perlman is the winner of 16 Grammy Awards and recipient of both the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the National Medal of Arts.

  • Called "The reigning virtuoso of the violin" by The New York Times

The Flynn would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Vermont Violins for making this one-of-a-kind instrument possible. Without it, we wouldn’t have been able to welcome Itzhak Perlman to our stage with such warmth. The fastidious nature with which this instrument has been crafted is evident, and we’re thrilled that a passionate bidder will get the chance to walk away with the shining star of this year’s spring auction. The support of Vermont Violins has made this year truly special.

The light-colored fingerboard is made from Sonowood, a sustainable wood alternative to the traditional ebony that is a threatened and endangered species. The compressed spruce, maple or beech wood creates a high density, dimensionally stable material similar to ebony. The scratch resistance and superior sound characteristics such as high sound velocity and low damping give us an environmentally responsible alternative to ebony.

The auction ran from April 12 - 29th, 2022. All items were bid on to raise money for the Flynn.

The Opening Bid was - $6,000 USD
